LORI COHEN 5K MEMORIAL TRAIL

COLORADO SPRINGS, CO

2021

During the spring & summer of 2021 Singletrack Trails worked in partnership with the University of Colorado Colorado Springs (UCCS) to construct a 5K Trail loop on campus that engages the unique, natural landscape of the surrounding area. The project included stewardship training and education components for UCCS trail maintenance staff, students and volunteers, educating each on how to construct new trail, refresh/maintain existing trail and construct trail features.

An excellent complement to the already 13 miles of existing trail within the campus network, The Lori Cohen Memorial 5K loop added 2 miles to the system total while increasing existing trail connectivity, adding variety and new route options for users. With the neighboring city managed Austin Bluff Open Space, which offers trail connections to the University network, the area sports over 34 miles of trails available to the public spanning 37 unique trail segments.
