The General Manager is a member of the three-person Senior Management Team and serves multiple key roles for Singletrack Trails Incorporated. The General Manager oversees daily business activities and ensures the company operates and functions efficiently and profitably. The primary areas of responsibility for the General Manager include:
Financial Analysis and Oversight
Business Development Oversight
Operational Analysis and Oversight
Management and HR Oversight
Sales and Marketing Oversight
Reports to: Chief Encouragement Officer (CEO)
Works directly with: CEO, Operations Director, and Front of House team(s)
Manages: Operations Director, Projects Director, Business Development Manager, and Special Projects Coordinator
Detailed Functional Roles and Responsibilities
Operational Analysis and Oversight:
Verifying policies with Operations Director
Coordinating business operations with Operations Director and Front of House Team(s)
Overseeing daily business operations
Evaluating performance and productivity
Financial Analysis and Oversight:
Monitoring financial activities with CEO
Creating and managing budgets.
Allocating budget resources
Managing operational costs
Understanding and developing budgets and finance, including expenditures, research and development appropriations, return-on-investment, and profit-loss projections.
Develop clear HR policies and ensure policy awareness among staff
Verify staffing levels align with current and anticipated projects
Research benefit opportunities for staff
Assess staff total compensation and ensure it aligns with industry standards
Maintain work-place health and safety compliance
Handle workplace disciplinary and termination procedures
Provide training, counseling, and coaching to staff
Carry out necessary administrative duties
Managing Core Management, Sales, and Front of House Teams
Monitoring and motivating staff
Improving administration processes
Developing and implementing growth strategies
Evaluating overall company performance and setting growth metrics
Sales + Marketing Oversight:
Drive sales and improve revenue
Evaluate marketing expenditures and ROI
Verify campaigns and marketing expenses per growth sector
Ensuring good customer service
Engaging with clients
Networking and bringing in Biz Dev leads
Preferred Skills and Qualifications
A minimum of five (5) years of business management experience and a bachelor’s degree, preferably in Business Management, are required. A Master’s in Business Administration is preferred and may substitute for two (2) years of the required experience.
The ideal General Manager will be a highly motivated, innovative, self-directed leader with great attention to detail and the ability to meet deadlines. He or she will be a highly effective manager and communicator across all levels of staff within the organization. Most importantly, he or she will be experienced across a wide range of business functions, including general management, budgeting, finance, operations, sales, staff management, and development. Through a combination of past work experience and education, he or she will possess:
Excellent knowledge of a wide range of business functions, especially budgeting and financial
Excellent communication skills with the ability to interact with all levels of staff and with customers
Strong computer skills and experience with project management software/tools (Singletrack Trails currently uses GDocs, InDesign, Trello, GDrive, Slack)
A visionary, big-picture mindset
Great attention to detail and highly organized
Skill and experience managing staff
Demonstrated leadership skills
Experience managing multiple projects
The ability to work collaboratively
The ability to think creatively and problem solve
The ability to work within and across teams
Knowledge of the outdoor recreation industry, trail building, and sustainability
Singletrack Trails is a growing and sustainable business focused on developing recreation and access opportunities on public and private lands. We design and build trails for walking, hiking, mountain biking, equestrian, and trail running. We also design and build pump tracks, bicycle skills parks, gladed ski runs, replace rock climbing bolts and anchors, and provide other recreational support services, including GIS, mapping, trail design, trail construction, project management, marketing, maintenance services, and infrastructure installation. Fundamentally, however, we create and build awesome trails.

The salary range for this position is commensurate with experience. This position is located in Grand Junction Colorado and is open to applicants based there or willing to relocate.
